Preventing Motion Sickness

Most first-time travellers get overexcited in their long journeys. They immediately pack their bags and make a check-list of their plans for a rare vacation. While most people who travel experiences an anxious feeling because they are mindful of their health, there are now plenty of remedies for people who get sick while travelling on a moving vehicle.

Road trips are fun, exciting and breath-taking. Hence, more and more people prefer to become auto tourists and travel on highways and motorways. However, travelling in a moving vehicle such as a car, could also give you motion sickness.

A motion sickness is the state of feeling dizzy due to repetitive motions that occur while travelling on a moving vehicle. Motion sickness is a normal response to real and continuous movement. Travellers who are not used to long drives has the tendency to experience this in either a train, bus or car. Too much head movement can also trigger motion sickness. Some of the symptoms of motion sickness includes the following: vomiting, dizziness, sleepiness, headaches, pale complexion, cold temperature of body, clamming and non-stop sweating.

In order to avoid motion sickness, a traveller should not drink alcoholic beverages or eat a heavy meal prior to their long travel. When travelling, it is advisable to eat small meals and drink small amounts of liquid to avoid vomiting. It is always believed that prevention is always better than cure. Instead of testing your limits, find ways to prevent this thing from happening.

For some travellers who still experience motion sickness, they get relief by taking long and slow breathes, sipping hot or lukewarm water, and placing a cool and wet cloth across the neck or wrists. Other remedy includes looking out of the window of a moving car and gaze at the travel direction. This is to help the person achieve inner sense of balance by having a visual motion. Meanwhile, passengers are also advised to breathe fresh and cool air by opening the window of a car.

While in some cases, travellers coordinate with their chauffeurs by telling them not to over speed or not to put the air-condition in the maximum cold. Technically, the chauffeur could help prevent this kind of sickness by helping the passenger feel comfortable during the trip.
